[edit] Trivia
- The band is named after Lughnasadh, an ancient Irish harvest festival, and also the Irish word for August.
- "The Kinnitty Sessions" was named Best Traditional Album by Irish Music Magazine in 2005.
- In 2002, Lúnasa were awarded British/Celtic Album of the Year for "Merry Sisters of Fate" by the Association for Independent Music in the USA.
- Of the twelve tracks on their self-titled album, the first eleven are the names of the months of the Irish calendar. 'Lúnasa', the word for August, was omitted.
- Former guitarist Donogh Hennessy, an original member, left the group in December 2004 to pursue a career in air balloon tours. He subsequently recorded an album as a duet with Pauline Scanlon - previously of the Sharon Shannon band - the culmination of a project entitled 'Deora De', an album comprising tunes and songs.
- sé, the title of Lúnasa's sixth album, is the Irish word for 'six.'
