Lúčina Slovak Folklore Ensemble

Lucina Slovak Folklore Ensemble is a volunteer group dedicated to preserving Slovak culture in the Greater Cleveland area of Ohio.

The Lúčina Slovak Folk Ensemble of Cleveland, Ohio was initiated in August of 1981. Lúčina has performed in over 275 programs for various groups including international festivals, church functions, Slovak-American events, charitable events, weddings, and private parties. In 1990, Lúčina performed at the Vychodna and Detva folk festivals. In 1992, Lúčina participated in the World Festival of Slovak Youth in Martin, Slovakia. In 1997, the ensemble toured towns in southern Slovakia. In 1999, Lúčina toured towns in western Slovakia and Detva.

Over the years, Lúčina has sponsored the Cleveland area performance of several Slovak Fok Ensemble including Terchovska Muzika in 1987, Oravan in 1991, and Šarišan in 1990, 1992, and again in 1995. In 1999, Lúčina sponsored the Hanka Servicka concert.

In November of 1996, Lúčina held its first Slovak Tri-Concert. The Tri-Concert helps to showcase other Slovak Ensembles in the United States and Canada while promoting cooperation and friendship with other groups.
