Léonard (comic)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Léonard in French, and Leonardo in the Dutch translation is a Belgian comic book character by artist Philippe Liegeois and scenarist Bob de Groot, better known under their pennames "Turk & De Groot".
Léonard is based on Leonardo da Vinci. He was created in 1977 in the famous book Léonard est un Génie, and still being drawn by the same duo in now over 30 albums. Over the years, various characters have been added: Le Disciple (Leerling), Raoul the cat and Bernadette the mouse, and Mathurine (Saartje) the housekeeper. An important running gag in Léonard is the talking Crāne (de pratende Schedel), who reports on the scene.
All albums have been published by Lombard Editions in Brussels, Belgium, and by Dargaud in Paris, France. At least four albums have been translated into English, but all are currently out-of-print.
