László Kiss (footballer)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
László Kiss (born 12 March 1956) is an Hungarian football coach and former forward. He played for the Hungary national team in the 1982 World Cup, where he gained notability after becoming the first substitute player to score three goals in a World Cup match.
Kiss played professionally for Hungarian clubs Pécsi MFC, Kaposvári Rákóczi FC and Vasas SC, and for French club Montpellier HSC.[1]
Kiss won international recognition and his name entered the record books during the 1982 FIFA World Cup, when he scored the fastest hat-trick in World Cup history – also the only hat-trick by a substitute – [2] against El Salvador in a first round match that Hungary won 10-1. Kiss came off the bench at the 56th minute[3], with Hungary already up 5-1, and scored at 69', 72', and 76'. He was a starter in the subsequent first round matches against Argentina and Belgium, being substituted in the second half of both games, and without scoring again.
Overall, Kiss played 33 matches for the Hungarian team, scoring 11 goals.[4]
He has been the coach of the women's football club 1. FC Femina Budapest since 2000, and has led the team to four domestic titles.[1]
