In addition to her forecasting duties, Erickson is among the first to be called upon when a story comes along dealing with pets and other animals; a self-described animal enthusiast, she has produced a number of special reports involving pet safety for the station. Like WPVI sports director Gary Papa, who suffered from prostate cancer, Erickson has been open about her battle with breast cancer, and she, along with all of the female anchors and reporters at CBS 3, do public affairs announcements and drives during Breast Cancer Awareness month (in October of each year).
She has one daughter and resides in New Jersey.

While at WCAU, the station passed ratings leader WPVI on the 11 P.M. newscast in 2001 for sometime. It marked the first time that WPVI had lost at 11PM in 30 years. In May of 2003, he was abruptly removed from the key 6 P.M. and 11 P.M. newscast as he remained on the 4 P.M. newscast, as WCAU management learned that he was being wooed by rival KYW-TV. He left the station shortly after that. Since joining KYW-TV, the station has made a significant jump in the ratings and beat WCAU at both 6PM and 11PM for the first time in a decade. Mendte is married to Dawn Stensland, who serves as the 10 p.m. anchor (and will serve as the future 5 p.m. anchor) of Philadelphia news station WTXF. Orr has her National Weather Association and American Meteorological Society seals of approval in addition to being an AMS Certified Broadcast Meteorologist. She came from WCAU-TV where she worked as a weekend weatherperson. She was reportedly asked to be chief meteorologist at WCAU when John Bolaris left but passed when she received a better salary offer from KYW-TV. The offer was ultimately taken by Glenn Schwartz.
Since coming to KYW, Orr has also helped establish "CBS-3 Kidcasters," wherein she and various CBS-3 crew members travel to various shopping malls in the Delaware Valley and encourage children of all ages to do a mock weather forecast. After playing many of the entries on the station's 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. newscasts, the very best children are invited to do live broadcasts alongside Orr on KYW-TV.
She was once a contestant on one of MTV's first game shows, Remote Control, which she lost and subsequently had her chair dragged away as she was beaten with stuffed animals.
