Kyle is a boys' first name.

It is also a Scottish surname, and one derivation of the surname is from the Gaelic word caol, which means 'narrows', 'channel', or 'strait'. There are other possible Derivations.

It has consistently made the list of top 100 baby names for boys in the United States since the 1970s, having peaked at number 18 in 1990; it reached number 5 in Scotland in 2003.
