Kwacha
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The kwacha is the name of the monetary unit of Zambia (since 1968) and of Malawi (since 1971). The Zambian kwacha (ISO 4217: ZMK) is divided into 100 ngwee; the Malawian kwacha (ISO 4217: MWK) into 100 tambala.
The name derives from the Bemba word for "dawn", alluding to the Zambian nationalist slogan of a "new dawn of freedom".
