[edit] About Kvatch
Unfortunately, the protagonist will never visit the city of Kvatch in its full glory. The game starts with Kvatch devastated and essentially leveled by a Daedric attack-if one could somehow teleport from their cell immediately afrer starting the game into Kvatch, they would still find it in ruins. When the protagonist arrives at Kvatch, they find that an Oblivion gate has opened outside the city, and that the remnants of the City Guard, led by Savlian Matius, are trying to shut it. When the protagonist does shut it, they must accompany the Guards into the city to rescue any survivors. It is there that they see the total devastation to the city. The only buildings still standing are the Great Chapel of Akatosh and the distant Castle Kvatch. It is in Kvatch's ruined chapel that he/she discovers Martin Septim, the illegitimate son of the late Emperor Uriel Septim VII.
[edit] Count Ormellius Goldwine
Little is revealed about the nature of Count Goldwine. After the protagonist completes "Breaking the Siege of Kvatch", Guard Captain Matius wants their help in rescuing Count Goldwine from Castle Kvatch. They then fight their way to the Castle, where the protagonist discovers that Count Goldwine has been killed. He must then retrieve Goldwine's signet ring and deliver it to Matius, who will keep it for the next Count.
