Kurdistan Province, Ottoman Empire
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The province of Kurdistan was established by the Ottoman Empire following the suppression of Bedirhan Bey's revolt in 1847.[citation needed] The area of the province (or vilâyet) was populated mostly by ethnic Kurds.[citation needed]A few years later the provincial setup was altered. After the establishment of Republic of Turkey in 1923, the region was incorporated into the newly created state.
