IMDb profile

Kung Faux is a comedy television series that remixes classic kung fu movies with popular music, comic book style editing and special effects, and new voice-over dubbing from primarily hip hop personalities ranging from Gang Starr's Guru, Queen Latifah, Jean Grae, Mr. Len, Lord Sear, Roc Raida, Biz Markie, Masta Ace, Sadat X, & Afrika Bambaataa, to break dancing legend Crazy Legs & reggae star Elephant Man.

Kung Faux first aired on the internet website "Popdetail" as a video pitch treatment for a proposed film version of the idea in the Summer of 1999 before transforming into it's current form and airing again on Television in April 2003 in the USA on the FUSE music television channel where it then migrated to the STARZ! and Encore television cable TV networks in the USA and other cutting edge TV channels around the world including C4 (New Zealand) and Canal+ Scandinavia where it appears alongside such like minded comedy TV series as South Park, and the Bravo television channel in the UK where it appeared alongside such internationally popular comic book inspired TV shows as the original Batman, Alias, and The Avengers.

Kung Faux can now even be seen in Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore, Viet Nam and most of South-East Asia as part of the STAR Asia network on Channel V International, not to mention the FOX and FX channels in Italy, Brazil, & Argentina.

Kung Faux was first created as a movie treatment in 1999 before transforming into a half hour TV series by the series creator, producer and director, Michael "Mic" Neumann, through his production company, Dubtitled Entertainment, and there are others that point to this time period and soon after as being conspicuously close to the same time that other major media concerns roled out thinly veiled derivatives of this original martial arts meets hip hop & comedy themed project after likely viewing the "Kung Faux" pitch.

Kung Faux creators Mic Neumann and Dubtitled in addition to televison and film projects have also been responsible in the past for casting voice-over artists for Rockstar Games, and most recently working with music artists such as Gnarls Barkley and their American music label, Downtown Records.

The first season of episodes from the Kung Faux TV series can now be found on DVD at [BentoBox.TV] as well as through Tommy Boy Films, a division of music label Tommy Boy Records, founded by Tom Silverman in 1981. Additionally, clips pulled from the original ten episodes of the first season continue to air on broadband entertainment network heavy.com.
