The atsumori story is a fictional tale written by Taira clan historians, Naozane did not become a monk until he renounced his gokenin status in court over a land dispute.

He was also not a retainer, but a honored warrior not of noble birth. Ther finally should be mention of the Amida sect of buddhism he took part in.

Generally this article is terribly misleading and false
