Kumba Resources is a large mining company in South Africa. It is the fourth largest iron ore producer in the world. [1] The company operates facilities in Africa, Asia and Australia.
Kumba's work is primarily in five areas:
- Iron ore, currently comprising half of Kumba's business[2]
- Coal
- Base metals, primarily zinc; lead
- Heavy minerals, primarily titanium
- Industrial minerals - ferrosilicon manufacture.
The company reorganized its iron ore production assets in 2006, and on November 27, 2006, relisted on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange as Exxaro; its symbol is "EXXARO".[3] Kumba Resources weblinks are now redirected to the new Exxaro/Kumba Iron Ore disambiguation page (see External links).
