Kubrick stare

The trademark stare of Stanley Kubrick's films, with the head tilted down and the eyes staring penetratingly from behind the eyebrow line, is sometimes known as a Kubrick stare.

- The opening shot of A Clockwork Orange, in which main character Alex is sitting with his 'droogs' in the Korova milkbar, giving the viewer the menacing stare.
- In 2001: A Space Odyssey, astronaut David Bowman invokes the stare, among several other grotesque facial expressions, as he enters a star gate.
- The penultimate shot of The Shining, in which Jack Torrance is seen giving the stare as he sits in the hedge maze, frozen to death.
- During the scene when Alice is lecturing Bill in Eyes Wide Shut
