KUAR

KUAR is a National Public Radio affiliate in Little Rock, Arkansas. It broadcasts at 89.1 FM and is licensed to the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. KUAR's format is news and information with a strong emphasis on Arkansas news and culture. The station went on the air in 1988. UALR Public Radio also operates KLRE FM 90.5, a 24 hour classical music station that has been on the air since 1973. The two stations have a full-time staff of nine, but also offer UALR students the chance to get broadcasting experience by working part-time. Like all public broadcasting, KUAR relies on listener contributions for a large part of its operating budget.
