KTXX-FM is a radio station, licensed to Karnes City, Texas, and serving the San Antonio area. They are managed by Border Media Partners.
The company also operates KOKE (AM) in Austin and KXEB in Dallas as part of their Texas Progressive Radio Network. KTXX airs a progressive talk format, and is an Air America Radio affiliate. All three stations air the same programming. KTXX, along with WXXM in Madison, Wisconsin, are the only two FM stations that carry Air America programming.
KTXX's reach is hindered in the San Antonio area because it is a rimshot (broadcasting) signal located roughly 50 miles southeast of the city's center, in rural Karnes City. Like many other rimshot signals in other markets, this has hindered the success of the station, and hence they have never made a serious impact in the San Antonio ratings. The station's sister station, KOKE in neighboring Austin, does make up for the limitations of KTXX's signal. Both stations, however, have trouble fully penetrating the San Antonio market due to the location of their transmitters.
