[edit] Otakon
KSweeley, thanks for all the information you've been contributing to Otakon. I've been making some organization and style edits in the interest of making the article more formal and encyclopedic and less like a news report or 'blog. I noticed you also made some edits to Takanori Nishikawa and was wondering if you know enough about TMR to help clarify something in the Otakon article. Right now, Otakon#Otakon_2003_A.K.A._O2k3_A.K.A._Otakon_X makes it sound like Kristine Sa and Takanori Nishikawa are both part of a "group" called "T.M. Revolution", but the article on Takanori Nishikawa seems to say it's just him. I don't know anything about these artists, so if you can provide any information, it'd be a big help. Thanks in advance—Triskaideka 20:37, 26 Aug 2004 (UTC)
- Saw your edit. Thanks! —Triskaideka 03:13, 30 Aug 2004 (UTC)
No problem, glad to be of assistance for the Otakon article, I've been attending Otakon since 2001 and am a big fan of Otakon, I attended this year's (2004)'s convention and was a volunteer. - KSweeley.
KSweeley, regarding your recent additions to Otakon: do you really think that information like the guest and hotel lists for one particular year are appropriate for Wikipedia? Remember that Wikipedia is not a general knowledge base nor a place for news reports, it's an encyclopedia. It seems to me that material that's just going to be deleted in a few months doesn't belong. I certainly can't find that kind of information in any of the other articles we have on conventions. I'm inclined to delete those sections from the article, but I wanted to talk to you about it first. Do you disagree, and why? —Triskaideka 17:51, 16 Dec 2004 (UTC)
---
Hmmm... Okay, if you feel that the list of guests and hotels are not appropriate for the entry for Otakon 2005, feel free to remove them then. But would it be okay for listing guests who attended previous Otakon conventions on another entry such as "List of Otakon Guests"? - KSweeley.
- That seems consistent with other "List of..." entries to me, so go for it. —Triskaideka 16:02, 17 Dec 2004 (UTC)
[edit] Ai-Kon
Until dates are announced, it's not generally a good idea to assume that there will be an Ai-Kon 2006, despite the fact that it's a very strong possibility. Please see What Wikipedia Is Not.... and thank you for adding to the article. I didn't know how to do that little corner-info-box thingie. Shingen 06:11, 21 September 2005 (UTC)
Okay. No problem, I created the info box for anime conventions. - KSweeley.
[edit] Image Tagging Image:IMap DMZ-GIS-WEB11202092214976.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:IMap DMZ-GIS-WEB11202092214976.jpg. I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the image, so the copyright status is therefore unclear. If you have not created the image yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the image on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the image yourself then you should also specify where you found it, ie in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.
If the image also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture then you can use {{gfdl}} to release it under the GFDL. If you can claim fair use use {{fairuse}}.) See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other images, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thanks so much.
[edit] Otakon - events wikilinks
I've made more changes to Template:Infobox Anime convention (Talk) that should now make it safe to use wikilinks in the events parameter.--TheFarix 15:33, 22 February 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Image Tagging Image:Bvc.jpeg
|
Thanks for uploading Image:Bvc.jpeg. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is therefore unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.
If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use {{GFDL-self}} to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media qualifies as fair use, please read fair use, and then use a tag such as {{fairusein|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other media, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Zzyzx11 (Talk) 00:36, 1 March 2006 (UTC)
- Specifically, you do not cite the exact newspaper and edition where the image came from. Zzyzx11 (Talk) 00:36, 1 March 2006 (UTC)
- I got the image from the Baltimore Sun website, I've proposed to create a specific fair use copyright tag for Baltimore Sun images. -- KSweeley
[edit] Image copyright problem with Image:13240380bvcint.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:13240380bvcint.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).
The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}
.
Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator.

[edit] Unspecified source for Image:IMap DMZ-GIS-WEB35603640139354.png
Thanks for uploading Image:IMap DMZ-GIS-WEB35603640139354.png. I notice the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this file yourself, then there needs to be a justification explaining why we have the right to use it on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you did not create the file yourself, then you need to specify where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.
If the file also doesn't have a copyright tag, then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{fairusein|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. YellowDot 02:31, 15 October 2006 (UTC)
