[edit] Plot

At the Krusty Krab, Mr. Krabs smells something weird. He goes to the cash register, where the smell is coming from. It's the smell of money. However, it doesn't smell like it usually does. Mr. Krabs can smell that the money is equal to $49.08, which means that 1 penny was lost. He goes crazy, while SpongeBob reassures him that 1 penny isn't much. Mr. Krabs , upon seeing Mrs. Puff, falls in love with her. He wonders what happened to Mr Puff, then the audience is shown his horrible fate (he was turned into a lamp). Mr. Krabs goes on a date with her, but ends up spending $100,000. The next time Mr. Krabs goes on a date with her, he leaves SpongeBob in charge of his wallet. However, he keeps on telling him to buy gifts for her, while also saying not to spend any money. So, he becomes happy and angry at the same time. In the end, Mrs. Puff says she didn't need any of the gifts, then kisses Mr. Krabs.

[edit] Trivia

  • Items that Mrs. Puff gets on their second date: Flowers, chocolate, sun hat, fur coat, pair of shoes, fine jewelry, umbrella, bicycle, surf board, grandfather clock, anchor weight, television set, canopy bed, golf clubs, teddy bear, inner tube, bowling ball, baseball, dart board, 3 darts, sink and faucet, a plant, a table, washing machine, toaster, bread, beach ball, a glass, at least 8 books, a dictionary, a stereo system, and almost a dryer to go along with the washing machine, in which some came in packages, wrapped in wrapping paper.
  • During SpongeBob's rant, he shouts various words that Mrs. Puff looks up in a dictionary, then remarks that she didn't know SpongeBob had such a colorful vocabulary. The words are actually gibberish.
  • This episode reveals that Mrs. Puff is a widow. The late Mr. Puff was turned into a lamp.
  • This episode is a bonus episode in the DVD The Seascape Capers, and is also featured in the Season 2 box set.
  • The "Fancy Restaurant" should not theoretically explode. The cork of the bottle is shot out, releasing the air pressure from Mr. Krabs' scream. If the cork had jammed and not come out, then the pressure would have grown too high, causing the bottle to explode.
  • On Dish Network, when you press the info button, it used to say "Mr. Krabs is smitten with Mrs. Puff", but later it said "Mr. Krabs likes Mrs. Puff".

[edit] Quotes

  • SpongeBob: "WAIT! DON'T TELL ME!! You want me to run down to the store and buy Mrs. Puff something she doesn't need! Then you want me to run back here so you could say" (imitates Mr. Krabs and looks likes Mr. Krabs with the eyes), "'Arr SpongeBob, you're spending all me money!'. Then I'll say 'But Mr. Krabs, I'm only doing what YOU SAID!!!!!!'. Then you'll say we're not talking about this" (SpongeBob draws a square in the air with his fingers), "or this" (draws a triangle in the air with his fingers and starts to get frustrated), "WE'RE TALKING ABOUT THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!" (He draws scribbles all over the screen until the whole screen is black).
  • Mrs. Puff: (After SpongeBob's rant is done), "I didn't know SpongeBob had such a colorful vocabulary..."
