Kritters are enemies in the Donkey Kong Country series. They are part of the Kremlings, a species of anthropomorphic crocodillians led by King K. Rool. Kritters serve as the grunts of the Kremling army and are one of the most common enemies in the Donkey Kong series. So far they have appeared in eight games, which include four Donkey Kong games, two Mario games and two upcoming games, one being Mario Strikers Charged.

[edit] Donkey Kong Country
Kritter first appeared in Donkey Kong Country. They came in a variety of colors which determined their attack pattern. The green versions (purple in the Game Boy Advance port) walked on the ground, while the other colors jumped. Another variation was Krash, a Kritter who rode in minecarts (obviously, he only appeared in the minecart levels).
Kritter returned in Donkey Kong Land. Their looks and attack methods were the same as those from Donkey Kong Country, but they didn't come in different colors (since the original Game Boy could only support black and white colors).
[edit] Donkey Kong Country 2
In Donkey Kong Country 2 and Donkey Kong Land 2, Kritter was replaced by Klomp, a Kremling that walked on a wooden leg. The game also featured an enemy named Kaboing who bounced on two spring-loaded peg legs. They were most likely the jumping Kritter's replacement. It's unclear whether or not Klomp and/or Kaboing are actually Kritters in pirate fatigues, or completely different enemies.
[edit] Donkey Kong Country 3
Donkey Kong Country 3 and Donkey Kong Land III featured Kobble, muscular Kremlings similar to Kritters. They were very rare in the former game, and semi-common in the latter game. There is also an enemy named Re-Koil who acts like the jumping Kritters and Kaboing, although they likely aren't related to either enemy.
In the Game Boy Advance version of the game, Kritter has a cameo appearance during Funky Kong's minigames. They drive black motorboats and attempt to get in the player's way.
[edit] Donkey Kong 64
Kritter returned in Donkey Kong 64, this time wearing a skull-adorned biker jacket. Kritters were very common, appearing in all but two stages, Fungi Forest and Creepy Castle (although two made brief appearances during the fight with King Kutout, the boss of the latter stage). They chase after Kongs in their area and attack them by punching and biting. A few attacks are all it takes to defeat them.
[edit] DK: King of Swing
In DK King of Swing, Kritters were able to swing on pegs like Donkey Kong; sometimes they also throw rocks and bombs at him. Kritter is also a playable character in Jungle Jam mode; he can be unlocked by winning 6 gold medals in Jungle Jam mode. In this game they were known simply as Kremlings, likely because they were the only types of Kremlings that appeared in the game.
[edit] Other Games
Kritter has made a few appearances in Mario sport games. They appeared in Mario Power Tennis on the Donkey Kong Court and in Super Mario Strikers exclusively as the goalies. Super Mario Strikers also had robot Kritters, which were the goalies for the Super Team (unlocked by completing the Bowser Cup Battle).
[edit] Future Games
Kritter is set to appear again as a playable character in the upcoming game, DK Bongo Blast. His appearance is similar to DK King of Swing. Kritter is also set to appear in Mario Strikers Charged, as a goalie.
[edit] TV Show
In addition to the games, Kritters were also featured on the Donkey Kong Country TV series, which featured the same design as the first game, but with a smaller tail. There is also a character on the show named Green Kroc (a lackey of Kaptain Skurvy) who looks identical to a Kritter, but with dark grey skin.
On the show, Kritters were voiced by Lawrence Bayne.
