Križ

Križ is a small town and municipality in central Croatia, located near Ivanić Grad. The population of Križ is 1,905 (2001), but it is surrounded by 15 other villages, bringing the total population to 7,406 (in 2001).

Križ was established in 1334. There is one elementary and one high school. Two major industries are ELEKTRA KRIŽ (power distribution company) and DIN Novoselec (wood processing and furniture producing industry).

The name "Kriz" (i.e. John Kriz) derives from the Austrian empire during the crusades of the 13th century. The word Kriz literally translated means cross.
