Kreuzeck Group

The Kreuzeck Group is a mountain range in Carinthia, Austria, which forms part of the Central Eastern Alps. It may be considered a part of the Hohe Tauern.
The Kreuzeck Group is mainly composed of gneiss and garnet-mica-schists, and is geographically separated from the rest of the Hohe Tauern in the north by the Möll River and from the Drauzug Mountains in the south by the Drava. The mountainous area (approximately 450 km²) is sparsely populated and is used mainly for forestry and hunting. However, its tourism industry has improved in recent years.
The highest peaks are Polinik (2784m), Striedenkopf (2749m), Hochkreuz (2709m) and Kreuzeck (2701m).
