Kreeya

Kreeya is a character featured in the television show Mortal Kombat: Conquest. She was played by guest actress Fabiana Udenio.

Kreeya's story dominates the end of the season and is the impetus for its fervent conclusion.

[edit] Mother

She was the queen of an unnamed distant realm, and the progenitor of her entire race. Shao Kahn had not known of Kreeya prior to her sudden arrival in Outworld. Even Raiden had only heard of her existence in allegorical legends. Kreeya sought to occupy all other realms to expand her empire, making her a threat to many. The Kreeyans, as they were dubbed by Kung Lao, are a race seemingly comprised entirely of Amazonian females. Kreeya once declared that her all of her race's men resided in their home realm. But their conspicuous absence and Kreeya's need of males of other realms as mates strongly indicates that Kreeyans are only female.

Regardless, the Queen's mate provides her with the ability to spontaneously generate a giant insectoid hive, which contains thousands of maturing fetuses. Several hives mutiply the number of children at an alarming rate, and the young girls quickly mature into adult form within days, commanding incredible hand-to-hand combat skills and expertise with weapons. They also possess immunity to many human diseases, including leprosy, and are capable of healing the afflicted by mingling their blood. Vorpax was the firstborn daughter of Kreeya.

[edit] Empress

Kreeya seeks to take over all of Outworld from Shao Kahn, and other worlds as well. Bound by the same rules of the Elder Gods as Kahn, she is forbidden to openly attack realms. Her expansionist campaign relies instead on seduction, circumventing the rules by being openly invited into new realms by their inhabitants. Kreeya thrives on half-truths; she outwardly displays the potential of the Kreeyans to turn other worlds into vibrant, cultural utopias, while disguising the means of eliminating power and individuality by saturating realms with her speedily grown children. In a very short time, the Kreeyans ultimately drive the populations of the realms they enter to extinction through sheer number.

Kreeya had sent her firstborn daughter to Outworld as a spy years before Vorpax wound up in Shao Kahn's cobalt mines with Shang Tsung. When Kreeya's forces invaded Outworld, they succeeded in liberating Vorpax and capturing Shang Tsung. She used the sorcerer as a bribe to entice Kung Lao and his friends into openly embracing the Kreeyans in Earthrealm and uniting against Shao Kahn. She sought to persuade Kung Lao that her race came in peace, to turn Earthrealm into a healthy paradise wherein the Kreeyans would become one with humans over lifetimes.

[edit] Downfall

The young monk discovered Kreeya's children maturing in a hive, and realized the horrible consequences of allowing the Queen to remain; humans would be overrun and surpassed in a matter of months. When he confronted Kreeya and Vorpax and rejected their advances to stay, he was imprisoned with Shang Tsung. The two were liberated by Raiden and sent the Queen fleeing after defeating her together in combat, their sole alliance during their rivalry. Shang Tsung destroyed Kreeya's hive.

Shao Kahn, meanwhile, had discovered the similar threat that the Kreeyans held for Outworld, and delcared war on Kreeya. He turned whole legions of his armies into hive hunters while others battled with the Kreeyan armies on the borders of Outworld. Her hives destroyed, and rejected by the humans, Kreeya was forced to find a new mate while she secretly established new hives in Earthrealm. She persuaded Reptile, leader of the Zaterrans, to betray Shao Kahn in exchange for sharing dominion after the Emperor's defeat. Reptile agreed, and several Zaterrans were reluctantly sent to guard her hives in Earthrealm while the children matured.

Nonetheless, the combined efforts of Earthrealm and Outworld to eliminate the hives infuriated Vorpax, who believed that Kreeya was carelessly sacrificing her people for her safety. Vorpax beseeched Kung Lao and his friends to aid her in defeating Kreeya, and swore to leave Earthrealm once the Queen was dead. When the three friends defeated Kreeya in hand-to-hand combat, Vorpax slew her herself, and left. Unbeknownst to the humans, the death of Kreeya imbued Vorpax with all of the breeding powers of the Queen. Kreeya's legacy was to continue under a new ruler.
