[edit] History

KQCW began operations in 1999 as KWBT, serving as the Tulsa area's WB affiliate. KQCW is the sixth television station in Tulsa after KOKI and KTFO. Before KQCW launched, the WB affiliation was on KWHB 47.

KQCW's programming schedule consists of morning children's programs, some first run syndicated shows including comedies in the early evening, off network sitcoms, drama shows, plus movies on weekends in addition to WB programming.

KQCW airs lottery drawings from the Oklahoma Lottery nightly at 9:10pm. KOKH 25 and KOCB 34 in Oklahoma City also air the drawings. Together, they are the official Oklahoma Lottery stations.

In 2006, CBS Corporation and Warner Bros. made the decision to merge the UPN and WB networks. The new network, The CW Television Network features the best programming from both the UPN and WB networks. The CW airs network programming six nights a week, adopting The WB's Sunday-Friday schedule compared to UPN's five nights a week (Monday-Friday).

It was confirmed on April 10 that KQCW would become the new affiliate for the CW. On May 23, the station requested to the FCC to have its call letters changed from KWBT to KQCW. On June 30, the call letters officially changed to KQCW.

KQCW was then branded as "CW 12", channel 12 being its location on Cox Cable. Its analog signal remains on channel 19.

In August 2006, sister station KOTV announced that they would start a newscast on CW 12 at 9:00 PM. Omar Villafranca and Jennifer Loren will anchor the newscast, with Katie Green on weather.

Starting Monday, September 18th, KQCW began airing the CBS soap opera The Bold and the Beautiful at 12:30pm. Sister station, CBS affiliate KOTV has not aired the show in daytime for several years. KOTV had been showing it late at night at 1:05am.
