Kouhei Toki

Kouhei Toki is a fictional character in the anime/manga Dragon Drive. This article will focus on the anime.

[edit] Appearance
Kouhei is shown in the anime with shaggy long blue hair and pale brown eyes. He wears overalls, white gloves, a red bandanna tied around his head with a skull in the center of it, and a blue t-shirt with yellow in the center. He appears around 14-16 years old.

Kouhei almost always appears with a smug look on his face, as if he can do no wrong. He is very sure of himself and doesn't like the thought of others holding him back. He generally appears lazy and uninterested, but when people really push his buttons, he can truly lose his sanity. He also follows his father's orders without question, much to the disappointment of Agent G. To the main gang of Dragon Drive, Kouhei appears bloodthirsty and uncaring about the people around him, and only once, during "The Truth," did Kouhei reveal his painful past to Reiji Ohzora. Due to the nature of the episode, and of Kouhei, it seems highly unlikely that Kouhei was lying. He states in that episode that he was all alone until his father took him "under his wing."

Kouhei is suspected to be the adopted, and not the biological son, of Saizou Toki, RI-ON's leader. Therefore it is logical to assume that Kouhei has no living blood relatives, or has been abandoned by them. Therefore, Saizou is his only "family."
[edit] Dragon
Kouhei Toki is the owner and master of a wind-type dragon known as Light Night's Knight that resembles a large white griffin. It's main attacks are red eye laser beams and a barrage of its white feathers. Kouhei also (for half the series) possesses Darks, a dark-type dragon that devours and lives off the darkness in people's souls. At the end of the series, he also masters (or is controlled by) Shinryuu.

Kouhei's childhood is not made entirely clear in the anime, but it is hinted at that he was adopted around the age of five by Saizou Toki. Throughout his childhood, Kouhei was trained to fight in Dragon Drive by his "glorified babysitter," Agent G. Over the years, he became RI-ON's strongest warrior like his father had wanted him to become. Unfortunately, without any normal human interaction in his life, Kouhei grew into a bitter and cold person, since Saizou obviously did not care about Kouhei's feelings at all. Emotional abuse is highly suspected.
[edit] Role in Dragon Drive
Kouhei is pretty much the main antagonist in the show, as his goals are to steal the Dragonite for RI-ON to help the organization control both Earth and Rikyu. He is also the indirect killer of Mukai, and Rockaku's old friend, Yakou. Since his personality is not exactly a winning one, people who "side" with him usually end up jumping sides here and there. He also is quite devious, using others as well as their feelings to get what he wants. His whole goal in the show is to reawaken the dragon god Shinryuu for RI-ON.
[edit] The End of Dragon Drive
At the end of Dragon Drive, Kouhei releases the dragon god Shinryuu himself after finally realizing for himself that his father was only using him and didn't care about him in the slightest. He then loses all control and is apparently sealed away within the Dragonite with Shinryuu for the rest of eternity.
