Kosmar

Kosmar Villa Holidays is a British holiday company that specializes in holidays to Greece, however it is offering trips to an increasing number of Turkish destinations.

It was founded by Kostas Markou (The name 'Kosmar' comes from Kostas - Markou) in 1982, travelling to the Greek holiday resort of Tolon. Since then it has more that quadrupled in size to become the UK's largest and best loved operator to Greece.

Kosmar did have a reputation for using unknown airlines, especially the infamous 'Air Scandic'. Now that it is owned by the XL Leisure Group it's primary airline is XL Airways UK. Astraeus and Air Malta are also used, and on flights to Crete and Rhodes, gives the option to fly with British Airways.

On the 10th April 2006, Excel Airways, representing the Avion Group, purchased Kosmar Villa Holidays plc for an undisclosed sum. The founder Kostas Markou will stay with the company.

As of 2006 Kosmar, now operates to Turkey, featuring the Aegean Coast and the Turkish Riviera.

2007 will feature two new destinations, Egypt and Cyprus and brochures have been published.

The XL Leisure Group, of which Kosmar is part of, has now split away from Avion and has been retrieved under a management buy-out.
