From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Kormerants are not cormorants. Though they appear to be the incorrect spelling for the Chinese bird, it is actually a mythical bird of harmony. The kormerant is said to change the color of its plumage depending on the current state of the area in which it lives. When the area is in a state of civil disagreement, the kormerant's plumage will turn a fiery orange and gray. If the area is in a time of darkness or ignorance, the kormerant will be black and brown. If the area is in a time of turmoil with other countries, the kormerant will be Purple and yellow. In times of celebration the kormerant becomes red and gold. In times of peace and tranquility, the kormerant becomes plumed in turquoise and orange. Some could say that the kormerant is a cross between a peace dove and a phoenix. The kormerant ranges in size. Some are as long as 15 feet and have wingspans of 20 feet. Some are 2ft in length and have 1.5ft wingspans. Their wings are tipped and curve backwards and are huge in length. If the wingspan of a kormerant is 15 feet, the length of the wing will be around 10ft. Kormerants have split tails. They are triangular and are around 8ft long each. The width of a tailpiece is about 3ft at where it connects to the body. It slowly shrinks in width until the end of the tail segment where a ribbon like feather grows. This feather is always white and grows an inch per year that the kormerant is alive. Some of these tail ribbons to 50 ft. This ribbon is not included in the total measurement for it would make the kormerant seem huge. These ribbons are almost silk-like and are about an inch wide. The head of a kormerant looks like that of a phoenix and is the color of the rest of the kormerant. The kormerant’s head has about 7 feathers fanning out behind it. This gives the kormerant an even more majestic look. The body of a kormerant is smaller in proportion to the rest of the body. The body is a thin long structure that is large enough to contain vital organs. The kormerant glides and doesn’t use much muscle power to fly. Although this bird is proclaimed mythical, some are convinced that these birds are merely hiding from the horrific world that we live in.
