Tecmobowl: Sockpuppet
Just look at Tecmobowl (talk • contribs • logs • block user • block log) and his contributions. He has targeted baseball related articles, something CFIF (talk • contribs) has had a run in with TBTA (talk • contribs) who was the unwitting victim of the Spotteddogsdotorg (talk • contribs • logs • block user • block log) sockpuppet ring thanks to Scott Brown from tvnewstalk.net. TBTA feels he was driven off Wikipedia by Tecmobowl and communicated his suspicion that the user may be part of the sock ring.
Tecmobowl's ëdit styles, types of edits reflect the those of the sock ring, as his reaction to being accused, including denials and anon ip attacks. What has changed is that he did not target CFIF directly with this latest sock, leading me to think that this is most likely a new form of attack from this problematic vandal taking the time to make seemingly good edits, along with many questionable ones, such as claiming links are spam when they are not. I feel that the overt avoiding of CFIF is a move to throw off suspicion, as is his avoiding AFDs. However, the other activities by Tecmobowl, especially the choice of who he attacked and the anon attacks seem to be typical of the Scott Brown/Spotteddogsdotorg sock ring.
Respectfully submitted. TV Newser Tipline 21:22, 29 September 2006 (UTC)
- This is getting out of line. The users hypocritical behavior (refusing to discuss this on his talk page) should prove that this is nothing more than harrasment. As you were involved in putting a stop to it, I hope this will be the last time I have to do something. His continued comments border on Libel. I am seriously sick and tired of these stupid claims. Please provide me with an example of a "good" edit that I vandalized. Then, actually be willing to discuss that on your user page, and then we can talk. If TV Newser is not willing to do that, then he should be asked to take a break from wikipedia until he/she has cooled off. --Tecmobowl 01:59, 1 October 2006 (UTC)
Re: A Murder of Angels
I noticed that after the fact- and immediately felt stupid about it. In fact, if that edit could be deleted from my contribution history, that'd be awesome. I actually said to myself, "There's no damn way this is right... this isn't Konstable's M.O." FYI, I already left my deletion rationale on the AfD. -- Kicking222 03:52, 30 September 2006 (UTC)
- Haha, rocktacular. (Aside: "rocktacular" is not an actual word, but I hope to someday be credited in an edition of the Oxford English Dictionary. My ultimate goal is to use it to bingo in Scrabble.) -- Kicking222 03:57, 30 September 2006 (UTC)

Becoming an admin is one of the more stressful things that can happen to you on Wikipedia. I suggest you cut back on your admin work, at the very least, until you can find a suitable balance between editing and admin duties.- gadfium 05:09, 1 October 2006 (UTC)
Thank you for your words guys. =) I have posted an explanation on a subpage here: User:Konstable/Explanation for my break. --Konst.able 05:44, 1 October 2006 (UTC)
- It's easy to get too stressed out when you start dealing with conflict resolution, etc. If you want to still be an admin but not deal with stupidity, try somthing less stressful like WP:RM which is always an adminbacklog. You'll see I spend a lot of time there (I might even do some today). Like someone told me (I think it was User:W.marsh), you can do as much or as little admin work as you want. Always remember there are over 1,000 admins here now so someone else can and will do whatever you don't feel like doing - and you don't even have to ask! :) —Wknight94 (talk) 12:58, 1 October 2006 (UTC)

Let's please centralize this Tecmobowl sock discussion at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents#Please Help. There are at least five user talk pages being spammed with this. —Wknight94 (talk) 03:01, 1 October 2006 (UTC)

Fascists
I have been brought back here by an email designed to harrass me from the user whom I had just indefinitely blocked, only to see that he had also left me a present on my talk page (reverted, thanks Wknight94). If you are here to complain that the block is unjustified, it is justified. If you are a fascist here to complain about your beloved deleted fascist page, grow up and take it to deletion review like I had suggested a billion times.--Konst.able 20:45, 1 October 2006 (UTC)
Leaving Explanation
No offense man but your leaving explanation was rather harsh I mean it made me feel like I've done something wrong when I haven't. I understand you're annoyed and bussy but as the one of the above users said you know you don't need to step in hell you don't even need to go on here everyday there's a life outside wikipedia I mean I don't go on here everyday, I bearly go on here once a week. I know what you're going to say to me you're not an admin blah blah blah but even if I was an admin it wouldn't change my additude on editing wikipedia.

User:Dormantfascist
I noticed you blocked Dormantfascist, may I ask for what reason did you block him? Thank you for your time. Piecraft 03:59, 2 October 2006 (UTC)
- I'm sorry to have found out that you have actually been harrassed by both the anti-fascists and "fascists" with this entire issue, I would like to apologise in regards to a few comments I made towards your actions, on hindsight I know they may have been done in haste and without full knowledge of the entire situation that you have had to deal with. I am merely fed up with being (yes as ironic as it sounds) persecuted constantly by society and others for merely having the views I do. Like I stated before I am not a racist or a bad person, being Fascist does not have any of these things in common, however it has been grossly misrepresented and misinterpreted throughout time by in this case ignorant troublemakers such as Dormanfascist and others whose only aim is to stir trouble, preach hatred all under the guise of "Fascism". Again I am not angry with you nor do I wish you any further trouble as I can understand the stress and problems being an admin has. So follow through in any way the poll goes. I simply wanted to make a point about the injustice of the way things are perceived today in regards to Fascism. Hope you keep well. Piecraft 17:22, 3 October 2006 (UTC)

For your information: I unprotected Galatasaray and Turkey national football team, which you semi-protected five days ago. I was prompted by a request on my talk page. While I do have my suspicions about the request, I'm assuming good faith. Anyway, semi-protection is meant to be temporary, so let's see how it develops. Almost all the articles from the Jewish Encyclopedia are excellent. They were written by a bunch of serious scholars. Since the article is not something that I wrote myself, however, I don't have a personal opinion on whether you choose to showcase it or not. (All I did was put in a few links.) AN/I
I'm not offended, I was somewhat frustrated as I have often been involved with issues that found themselves on the AN/I and I know for a fact that the one I brought up with was well within the norm. From my point-of-view it simply seemed like one person decided to write an unnecesarily condescending remark that didn't make much sense and then a few other users decided to jump at the chance to do the exact same thing. Once again I didn't want to start an afd because I wanted to get some input first and I wanted to bring up an issue that may have needed the attention of sysops. Since people probably feel they will look worse if they admit they were wrong, I'm sure that I still won't get that input but I'm not sure I really care that much.- Moshe Constantine Hassan Al-Silverburg | Talk 05:20, 15 October 2006 (UTC)

- The name of the article Indian Caste System is not the right one. Hindus in India, Pakistan, USA everywhere has their CASTE System. India is a democratic country and our constitution believes in Equality and Casteless Society. You can not blame a nation for social discrimination. How can you says only Russian Racism Or American Racism? Racism is Rasicm all over world. same way Hindu Caste System is everywhere in the world. So we have to change the name of the article. Is it possible that 165.228.133.11 (talk • contribs) is not RAMistheMAN (talk • contribs), but Burak18 (talk • contribs)? Because the IP's editing patterns match Burak18's edits better than RAM's edits. Aecis Dancing to electro-pop like a robot from 1984. 09:34, 19 October 2006 (UTC)

Rachel Marsden
I believe that the article Rachel Marsden, as it was at the time you blocked Arthur Ellis, due to its emphasis on the negative aspects of her history, was subject to either stubbing by a user or speedy deletion by an administrator. It remains to be seen whether the rest of the arbitration committee will agree. Anyway, in the case of biographies of living persons, please carefully examine what is going on before you take actions against users who are removing poorly sourced negative material or even, as in this case, large blocks of negative material. Such material may be well sourced, but in the absence of any positive material should not be in the article. In this case the problem is that the article contained almost nothing but negative material. The position that eventually the article will become more balanced has been rejected. It needs to go until it can be reconstituted. Fred Bauder 14:16, 20 October 2006 (UTC)

A very Californian RfA thanks from Luna Santin
Thanks for your support in my not-so-recent RfA, which succeeded with a final tally of (97/4/4)! I've never been able to accept compliments gracefully, and the heavy support from this outstanding community left me at a complete loss for words -- so, a very belated thank you for all of your kind words.
I have done and will continue to do the utmost to serve the community in this new capacity, wherever it may take me, and to set an example others might wish to follow in. With a little luck and a lot of advice, this may be enough. Maybe someday the enwiki admins of the future will look back and say, "Yeah, that guy was an admin." Hopefully then they don't start talking about the explosive ArbComm case I got tied into and oh what a drama that was, but we'll see, won't we? Surely some of you have seen me in action by now; with that in mind, I openly invite and welcome any feedback here or here -- help me become the best editor and sysop I can be.

- Only a little late, eh? ;) We go at AIV with pitchforks ready, but they just keep piling on. Will see you around, doing adminly things. Luna Santin 20:05, 24 October 2006 (UTC)
Roger Woddis
Hey, I saw your edit summary for Roger Woddis said "speedy declined" which is fine (I readded the tag because it had accidently been removed, but don't particularly agree with it). But that means the tag should come off, right? Cuz it's still on there. Natalie 00:52, 25 October 2006 (UTC)
I am psychic...
[3] Anyone could have seen this coming. Thanks for doing something about it, hopefully he will take a permanent break if this is his "return" to Wikipedia. Perhaps now that he is active, we should bring back his discussions :P Seicer (talk) (contribs) 02:05, 25 October 2006 (UTC)
Protection of J. Philippe Rushton
Yeah, I wasn't totally sure here, but I stuck with my guns and semi-protected the page, but I guess I was wrong. I guess fully protecting the page will resolve the issue. Would that be appropriate then? Nishkid64 03:44, 25 October 2006 (UTC)
- I think a large part of the problem with this page is that there is no separate article covering his theory. If such an article were to exist, then coverage of the debate over it's merit ought to be moved there, one would think. There was such an article, but it was deleted as a POV fork since it only covered positive views of his work. As for the "pus" quote, this comes from the review of his book in what is arguably the leading scientific journal dealing with the theories he is using in his work. While, the book reviews are not peer reviewed like the rest of these articles, the review must have passed by the editorial board and does therefore stand as a representative sample of the academic community's views on the topic. While this sentence does not directly address a specific point of fact about his work, it serves as a summary of all the specific facts raised in the review, which is cited. More direct points raised in the review such as "...Rushton argues at length for what he calls the 'principle of aggregation', which in his hands, means the pious hope that by combining numerous little turds of variously tainted data, one can obtain a valuable result; but in fact, the outcome is merely a larger than average pile of shit" might be more illustrative of a specific point of contention but (in addition to seeming gratuitously rude) have less bearing on the scientific community's views on his work than a more general summary statement with a link to the source, or so I would have thought. Vandal hitting again
Could you please help me out with an annonomous user: User talk:205.211.50.30 and User talk:205.211.52.10 has left a hate message on me and is going through articles editing out the word "Nazi" in reference to Germany during and before WWII. He's also making threats against another user: Ramdrake. You recently unblocked him so I thought you'd like to have the honors of seeing what he's been doing. Thanks for your help.--Asams10 14:42, 25 October 2006 (UTC)

Re: Cerebral Warrior
Would you mind pointing me to the Wikipedia policy on hate speech? Not that I'm complaining, mind, but this is the first I've heard of a user being temporarily banned for it. Personally, I would prefer that there not be any laws (I'm thinking Real World here) against hate speech as such, since I think it's better that such corrosive ideas be rebutted in open debate rather than being left to fester. Of course, the Wikipedia isn't a forum and that sort of thing does rather distract from our purpose here. I'm just curious on whether we have a policy on it and what the debate over it was like. crazyeddie 01:36, 26 October 2006 (UTC)
I've checked out WP:UP. AFAICT, it looks like Cererbral Warrior's userpage, if it was an "excessive case", should have been listed on WP:MFD before deletion. Did I misread this? I'm not criticizing, but the whole thing seems rather abrupt. crazyeddie 02:01, 26 October 2006 (UTC)
It just seems really abrupt. CW had been warned quite strongly about personal attacks and about lack of civility in general. I was personally keeping him under a sort of "citizen's probation," ready to haul him before RfC if he made any further personal attacks. But he hadn't been warned about hate speech specifically, and I know I wasn't aware of it being banned as such. (Definitally not a good idea, but a ban?) His banning came as a bit of a shock since I was in the middle of a discussion with him, attempting to get him to see the contradiction in his hatred of all Muslims. A bit quixotic, I'll admit, but hey, quixotic is my role in life. I imagine that the ban came as a bit of a stronger shock to CW.
As far as the deletion of the userpage, some people had complained about it, but I don't think the full consensus had been established yet in CW's mind. I was hoping that he'd take a hint and take it down himself. I think in about a week I would have taken it to MFD myself, assuming nobody beat me to it. I'm not to concerned about it - if he wants it back too bad, I guess he can take it to undeletion and probably loose.
IAR is all well and good, but there is something to be said for at least the appearance of rule of law. Can you see how the whole thing might appear to be arbitrary, from CW's point of view? Maybe I'm just being a softie, but is there any chance of smoothing this over a bit? A 48 hour ban probably won't do too much to correct CW's attitude. How about taking it down after 24 hours, maybe apologize a bit (but not too much), and explain how he might go about getting his userpage undeleted. Not that that will happen, of course. I think that will smooth things over with him, while still letting him know we mean business. If he screws up again, we can always haul him before ArbCom and get him placed under probation or banned more permanently.
Or am I completely out of line here? crazyeddie 04:53, 26 October 2006 (UTC)
My Userpage
I want to restore my userpage to the condition it was in before its deletion. I am not sure why certain content seems to offend some users, and anyway they have stated that they would like to put up an RfC or something against me. As of now I will let the userpage remain as it is (the way you undeleted it), and will attempt to discuss why those userboxes have created such a furore. Cerebral Warrior 05:57, 26 October 2006 (UTC)
- By the way, I find the userboxes on this page offensive, mainly because they refer to President Bush as a "neo-fascist" (some would consider that libel), the US government as "spies" and a host of other offensive material. Will you take any action against that user? Cerebral Warrior 07:11, 26 October 2006 (UTC)

OK, I'm making a final formal request to Cerebral, on his talk page, asking him to accept the current version of his userpage: [4] and generally improve his behaviour. yandman 07:06, 26 October 2006 (UTC)

no but i will not copy anymore....
but there was one called "Copperfield's Mine" and that was not copied and it got deleted..
Re:
It's a bit rewritten, so it's not a pure copy and paste, but for example the phrase "A great mineral collecting opportunity exists in the scrap heaps of the old mine" exists in both the deleted WP article and this website, some other phrases as well. If you can remove the copyvio stuff and there's an article left, feel free. --W.marsh 00:01, 28 October 2006 (UTC)

Welcome to the AMA!
Hello Konstable, I see that you have decided to join the AMA. I'll be the first to say welcome! We're always in need of more advocates, especially since were backlogged most of the time. Just a few pointers for what we do. We communicate by putting a template on our talk page. The template is {{AMA alerts}}. The AMA also has it's own IRC channel which reports new cases to us, and also new alerts. If you'd like to jump right into a case, you can check out WP:AMARQ, which is our new request for advocacy system. The instructions for how the technical part works is on the talk page. You can also use the AMA userboxes that appear under here. If you have anymore questions about the organization, just ping any advocates talk page, including our coordinator, Steve. Again, welcome to the AMA! -Royalguard11(Talk·Desk) 05:23, 20 October 2006 (UTC)

If someone leaves a comment on my talk page and if I wouldn't clear it, does the comment exist forever or limited? Lieutenant Dol Grenn 18:11, 31 October 2006 (UTC)
I'm starting to feel qualmish when I see my comments on User:HamishMacBeth's talk page. The problem is that I had a long discussion a long time ago. I want to remove my own comments from User talk:HamishMacBeth but I can't blank his page. Please give me a solution. Thanks. Lieutenant Dol Grenn 19:38, 31 October 2006 (UTC)

Who is the Wikipedia-operator? Lieutenant Dol Grenn 15:47, 1 November 2006 (UTC)
I've already left HamishMacBeth a comment on his talk page [7] but he still ignores me. I don't want to see my own comments on his talk page anymore. Maybe you can talk to him politely. Lieutenant Dol Grenn 15:55, 1 November 2006 (UTC)
Please take a look on the List of famous tall men page and tell me if I can add Victor Williams as 6' 6" to this page. Victor Williams is a famous actor from King of Queens and several users have said that he has to be notable. There are also users who continue removing Victor Williams from the list of famous tall men. Lieutenant Dol Grenn 16:34, 1 November 2006 (UTC)

Virtual restraining order requested
I have a recurring problem with Clintonesque partly because I reverted his first edit in Fallujah, due to the deletion of sourced text. From there on he has been completely uncivil, has openly accused me of hypocrisy [8]without an form of provocation. Furthermore in Fallujah’s article page he has made an excessive amount of reverts [9] and has seemingly claimed the article as his own, hostilely accosting any editor that opposes his view. Due to his personal attacks and 3rr violation I had placed a warning tag in his talk page, however now he places completely inappropriate pseudo-warnings on my page that are not official templates, but instead inserted spliced together text messages that come of as far more confrontational than a template. But look as one [10] , Falsely accusing me of policy violations such as 3RR which I have come nowhere near violating (my greatest revert count for the any day being two edits on the same article.) and then placing warning tags accusing me of improperly removing the false warnings. Threatening me with vague consequences when I do so with such hostile phrases such as “This is your last warning” I have been an active Wikipedia user now for close to half a year and have overall gone about constructive edits, but this Wikistalking from a new user with a record of only POV edits is disrupting my normal Wikipedia habits; I found it difficult to work on a constructive expansion on the history of the Syrian desert while being badgered by harassing messages from him. I request that you take some action to stop the vandalism of my talk page, such as temporarily protecting my talk page. And that some action be taken to prevent his harassing edits. Thank you for taking the time to read this post.Freepsbane 21:23, 1 November 2006 (UTC)

Deprod notification
I have removed the {{prod}} tag from WikiFur, which you proposed for deletion. I am leaving this message here to notify you about it. I have explained my reasoning on the talk page, but essentially it is because I don't agree with your claim of unverifiability (since the claims are made about the site itself using from the site's own pages a primary self-reference, which is permitted) and because I think you inadvertently excluded valid mentions of the site in your google search.
I also think there is evidence that the article's presence is useful to Wikipedia's readers; our Google Analytics stats show that the average visitor to WikiFur from that article reads over 10 pages on WikiFur after the first one - more than those who visit through Google searches, or indeed through any other regular referrer (average is around 7.5). If it was not useful to them, I do not think they would bother staying. If you still feel the article should be deleted, please don't add the {{prod}} template back to it. Instead, feel free to list the article at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion. Thanks! GreenReaper 21:55, 1 November 2006 (UTC)

Image:Randal Pinkett.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Randal Pinkett.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}
- On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. -- Chowbok 03:48, 4 November 2006 (UTC)
Did you read the tag? It said nothing about a fair use rationale. It also said not to delete it. Please look at it closer. —Chowbok 17:08, 4 November 2006 (UTC)
- There are other ways of obtaining freely-licensed (what term would you rather I use?) images besides spying on people. I've gotten several people to properly license publicity photos for use, including the Beastie Boys. If you don't want to put in the effort, fine—we're all volunteers, after all. But if you have a problem with the policy, take it up with Jimbo.—Chowbok 23:53, 4 November 2006 (UTC)
