Kong in Concert (KiC) is a non-commercial collaborative album containing 22 rearrangements of the music from Donkey Kong Country, a Super Nintendo video game. Twenty artists from the video game music arrangement community were chosen to lend their talents to the project. The original soundtrack, composed by Robin Beanland, Eveline Fischer, and David Wise, is considered a video game classic.

The project began on April 14, 2004 with director Digital Coma inviting artists to pick tracks to rearrange. Competing arrangements for the same track were then voted on by the project contributors to decide which to include in the album. After the working title Gorilla con Gusto was generally panned, the album was retitled by contributor Vigilante. The finished product was released and spotlighted as OverClocked ReMix's second Site Project on September 12, 2004 and slashdotted on September 13. Less than a month later, the site accrued over one million hits and Dave Wise, regarded as the leader of the Donkey Kong Country soundtracks, privately made note of the project and expressed appreciation. The critical success of the album within the video game music arrangement community continues to be unmatched and has spawned many projects in its wake including Rise of the Star (2005) and The Dark Side of Phobos (2005).

On August 23, 2004, nearing the project's completion, two pairs of songs were placed in a peer review runoff among contributors to determine which would be placed on the album.

Israfel had left his introductory "Godiva in the Desert" in an unfinished state, leading Protricity to collaborate with Vigilante on "Plight of Heroes" in order to replace the song. Despite its circumstances, a 10-8 majority felt Israfel's song sounded complete and presented a unique arrangement amongst the other tracks in the album.

Nacho's ending "Goodbye Mr. Kong" was criticized on grounds of quality, and again Protricity had a competing song, "Rare Reminiscence." A 14-2 majority supported Protricity's song as a better written and produced arrangement.

During the project timeline a lot of unfinished WIPs were posted on the message board, most of them not hosted anymore and therefore unavailable by today without personal requests. A forum user at VGMix' forums has compiled an almost complete list of public unused beta-tracks preserved in original filenames.

Overall the majority of the tracks are very different from the released, also in varied track lengths, but interestingly many of them are either made by artists that didn't end up getting directly involved in the project, or already included artists experimenting with remixing other tracks on the original soundtrack and later abandoning their progress.

For instance, a request of unused WIPs and betas in the project comments thread eventually led the remixer analoq to release a half-finished vocalized track called Ice Caves Treatment (available here) featuring aetherius.
