Koneba (woreda)

Koneba is one of the 31 woredas in the Afar Region of Ethiopia. A triangle-shaped district in the Administrative Zone 2, Koneba is located near the base of the eastern escarpment of the Ethiopian highlands, and bordered on the west by the Tigray Region, on the north by Dallol, and on the east by Berahle. The major town in Koneba is Koneba.

Based on figures published by the Central Statistical Agency in 2005, this woreda has an estimated total population of 46,149, of whom 20,642 were males and 25,507 were females; 1,209 or 2.62% of its population are urban dwellers, which is less than the Zone average of 2.7%. Information is not available for the area of Koneba, so its density cannot be calculated.[1]
