[edit] Languages

It is said that the main languages of Kolhapur city are Marathi, Hindi and English. I am wondering if the person who made the statement has ever visited Kolhapur. Many people can speak Hindi and a few educated can speak English but only Marathi is used universaly for almost all purposes. --Sandipani 19:53, 23 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Languages

Sandipani says Marathi is exclusively spoken in Kolhapur and even English and Hindi are sparingly used. Now, we have people adding Kannada to the List. I have removed this. There are only a few villages in Gadhinglaj Taluk that are kannada speaking. Kolhapur city might have a few, but come on, Kannada is not at all known to the general public. I request all Marathi Wikipedians to stop this 'Kar'-'Natak' vandalism. Please look at the page related to Solapur. They are talking as if Solapur as if it is stolen from Karnatak by Maharashtra. They haven't stopped at this; look at Pune page...it says though the main language is Marathi, English,Hindi,Gujarati,Kannada,Tulu are also spoken. Please stop this vandalism to the articles related to Maharashtrian cities
