Kolopak

Kolopak is a fictional character in the Star Trek: Voyager universe. He is featured in the episodes Basics: Part 1 and Tattoo. He is played by Puerto Rican actor Henry Darrow.

Kolopak is the Native American father of Chakotay and is often seen during Chakotay's meditations. Unlike his son, Kolopak followed a more traditional path with his tribe, and consequently a fair amount of friction developed between the two. Kolopak disapproved of Chakotay's decision to join Starfleet but ultimately respected his son's choices.

Kolopak died when his home was attacked by Cardassian colonists in the Demilitarized Zone. His death inspired Chakotay to join the Maquis and take up arms against the Cardassians there.
