Kolaghat (Bengali: কোলাঘাট) is a town situated on the banks of the Rupnarayan River in the Midnapore East district of West Bengal. The town is notable for its Hilsa fish.
It is home to one of the largest thermal power plants in India. This is run by West Bengal Power Development Corporation Limited (WBPDCL) of the West Bengal Government.
The riverside has become a popular picnic spot and is often crowded with people, particularly during the Christmas and New Year holidays.
In 1998, the College of Engineering & Management, Kolaghat was set up here.

As of 2001 India censusGRIndia, Kolaghat had a population of 23,707. Males constitute 51% of the population and females 49%. Kolaghat has an average literacy rate of 71%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 78%, and female literacy is 64%. In Kolaghat, 11% of the population is under 6 years of age.
