Koji Igarashi (also known simply by his nickname of IGA) is a Konami employee and the current producer of the Castlevania video game series. He is most known for directing Castlevania: Symphony of the Night and producing Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow.

The first game he worked on was Detana!! Twinbee. The ending of Gradius II also credits him as a programmer.

[edit] Castlevania Retcon Controversy

In 2001, Igarashi made a controversial move by removing certain Castlevania games from the official Castlevania timeline and personally revised the history of the Belmont clan by writing Castlevania: Lament of Innocence. The removed games includes Castlevania Legends, Castlevania 64, Castlevania: Legacy of Darkness, and Castlevania: Circle of the Moon. He stated his reasonings for removing the games was intended to clean up the Castlevania continuity.[citation needed]

Just recently the only game to be removed is just now Castlevania: Legends. The others were now apart of the new timeline that was released in the 20th anniversary package with the new Portrait of Ruin game. However, because this timeline was released by Konami of America, it is not necessarily representative of Igarashi's intended timeline.
