Kock is a town in eastern[edit] History
The settlement existed since the 12th century. It received its city charter in 1417.
The Jewish community was established in the town in the 17th century. In Yiddish it was known as Kotzk. In the 19th century it became an important center of Hasidism, becoming known for having been the longtime home of Rabbi Menachem Mendel Morgenstern, the Kotzker rebbe. Most of Jewish community's members perished in the Holocaust during the German occupation, and it was not reestablished after the war.
Kock is famous for several battles that were fought there, in 1809 and 1939.
