Kobori Masakazu

Kobori Masakazu (小堀政一?) (1579-1647) Kobori Masakazu, aka Kobori Enshu (小堀遠州?), a notable servant under the likes of Tokugawa Ieyasu. During the year of 1600, Masakazu received a 10,000-koku fief in Omi Province at Komuro. Culturally, Masakazu was very well known. Masakazu excelled in the arts of painting, poetry, and the arrangement of flowers. Masakazu though was known best as a master of the tea ceremony. Masakazu's style soon on became known as "enshû-ryu". In view of Masakazu's excelling ability, Masakazu was tasked in showing the 3rd Shogun, Tokugawa Iemitsu in the ways of tea ceremony.
