From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

KNXX (104.9 MHz/3 kW), Donaldsonville, Louisiana and WNXX(104.5 MHz/2.75 kW, Jackson, Louisiana are a pair of simulcstating Modern Rock outlets serving the Baton Rouge area. The stations, which are owned by Guaranty Broadcasting, uses the moniker "104 The X" and the slogan "Baton Rouge's New Rock".

[edit] History

Both stations have had a history of various formats, most notably Adult R&B at 104.5 (from the 1990s to 2000 and from 2001 to 2003) and Rhythmic Oldies at 104.9 (late 1990s to 2001).

In 2000 the 104.5 signal became a Modern Rock outlet, only to move over to 104.9 in 2001. In 2003 both stations became a simulcast and adopted the 104 The X handle.

104 the X is Baton Rouge's only source of New Rock. It has basically been blowing up in the area as of late. MJ holds down the middays (9AM to 2PM), The Fish is the afternoon drive host (2PM-7PM), and Dan Day makes it happen at nights. The D continues to serves as music director.

One popular feature is "The Fish's Catch of the Day", where listeners decide whether a new song should be kept or thrown back.

Listeners are also known to intently listen to the X11 each day to find out what crazy saying Dan Day will open with.
