"Knock Knock" is an R&B song written by American rapper-songwriter Missy Elliott, Kanye West and Lee Hatim for Monica's third studio album After The Storm (2003). The song also was co-produced by Elliott and West. In opposition to the album's first single, "So Gone", the single saw minor success only, peaking at #75 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 and #24 on the R&B/Hip-Hop tracks chart, when released simultaneously with "Get It Off" in September 2003.

[edit] Song information
Just as the first single, "So Gone", from After The Storm, the album's second single also was primarily written and co-produced by Missy Elliott, who consulted Kanye West for the track's finalization in fall 2002. West had used a sample from the Masquerader's song "It's A Terrible Thing To Waste Your Love" before; he had used the same interpolation in a similar way for a demo recording, which was released on his 2005 mixtape Freshmen Adjustment.
The similarities in sound, production and lyrics and the overwhelming success of the first single were the most obvious reasons why "Knock Knock" was picked as the follow-up to "So Gone" in autumn 2003. However, J Records decided to test another group of potential buyers with the release of "Get It Off", a beat driven club tune - also produced by Elliott.
In the end "Knock Knock" didn't receive as much success as its predecessor. It underperformed bitterly, only peaking at #75 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 singles chart and #24 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks chart.
