[edit] History

KNOX signed on in 1949 with a full service format blending music, news, talk, and radio dramas. It later became a Top 40 station, and changed to a mainly News/Talk format in the 1980s. KNOX was the former home of popular talk show "Hot Talk" until Scott Hennen was promoted for a talk-show host job on WDAY-AM in Fargo, North Dakota. "Hot Talk" became replaced with "Mac Talk" until its host Mike McNamara was stationed in Iraq as a Marine, which was replaced with "Straight Talk" with Jarrod Thomas. McNamara returned from Iraq on August 2006 and was elected as Ward 2 representative of the Grand Forks City Council, as well as returning as the host of "Mac Talk".
