Talk:Knights of Pythias
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
This article has veered off NPOV all to heck and is now a cut-and-paste of text found at [1] and other places. This seems to be a copyright violation at least. Should I revert or post a copyright violation n it? Paul, in Saudi 01:54, 21 Jun 2005 (UTC)
Is it really true that the order does not have a "white male" requirement anymore? The sites [2] and [3] both use the present tense when referring to it, and I cannot find anywhere (not even on their website) a positive statement that the order has abandoned the requirement. Is the charter online somewhere? AxelBoldt 16:58, 23 August 2005 (UTC)
- I have to admit that I cannot prove it. But "It just has to be true." A poor defense. I will look into it in order to have cite now or after my vacation. Paul, in Saudi 03:42, 24 August 2005 (UTC)
- I AM a Knight of Pythias. We happen to have a very diverse membership; in my time in the order the "white male" thing has never come up. In the application form it does not mention that you have to be white. you DO have to be male (it is a fraternity, after all) but all are welcome. Jeremys779 17:34, 27 January 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Updating this page
- As a Pythian, I want to expand this article, especially after seeing KoC as the featured article today. In response to AxelBoldt's sources--#3 is a KoC website, and is very poorly written. #2, however, seems to be an actual article. I will have to find their sources. Still no "white male" requirement in the rules that I have seen (unfortunately, I cannot post the Order's constitution online!) Any ideas on how to fix this?Jeremys779 03:37, 1 August 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Listing of Grand Chancellors past and present?
My dad is a Pythian -- or at least he was, in the chapter in Co-op City -- and I'm trying to help him reunite with some of his old friends, several of whom are Past Grand Chancellors. Is there any way I can find them? --204.246.229.216 16:15, 6 November 2006 (UTC)
- of course. I had a similar situation tracking down my grandfather. Contact the local Grand Lodge (in New York, contact information is availible at http://www.nypythian.org . It would help if you know around when he was a Pythian (if he still is, it helps to know which lodge he belongs to). - Jeremys779 (edited from another computer, but i forgot to log in!) 71.167.199.157 07:23, 12 November 2006 (UTC)
