Knighton is an area of Leicester, situated roughly between Clarendon Park to the north, Stoneygate and South Knighton to the east, Wigston to the south and Aylestone Park to the west. It is a mainly residential area, greatly expanded in the 1930s and 1940s with red-brick semi-detached houses.

East and West Knighton are the wealthiest council wards in the City of Leicester.

According to the Leicester A to Z, Knighton is divided into Knighton, South Knighton, West Knighton, and Knighton Fields.

Knighton Fields covers the area between Welford Road and Saffron Lane, and to the South Knighton Fields Road.

West Knighton, Leicestershire is an area enclosed by Knighton Fields Road to the North, and Welford Road to the East, and Saffron Lane to the West. This area is distinct from West Knighton Council Ward which encompasses both Knighton Fields and West Knighton. It is fortunate enough to have easy access to both Aylestone Park and Knighton Park.*[1]

The area has some excellent primary schools and two state high schools, Sir Jonathan North Girls School and Lancaster Boys School.

The old village centre of Knighton is a conservation area. [2]
