Klerksdorp Spheres

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Klerksdorp Spheres are small spheres found by miners near Ottosdal, South Africa lying in Precambrian strata, about 2.8 billion years old. The spheres are exposed at Klerksdorp museum.

Some have claimed their spherical shape and fine grooves could only have been created by intelligent beings - making them a classic "out-of-place artifact". This view is expressed in Michael Cremo's Forbidden Archaeology. Others say they are pyrite nodules of metamorphic origin and goethite nodules formed by the weathering of the pyrite. In his article on the subject, Paul Henrich notes that one of Cremo's sources regarding the allegedly anomalous spheres was the Weekly World News, hardly a reputable source.
