[edit] Information under the wrong headings

"In Mario Superstar Baseball, Klaptrap was a hazard in the outfeild of DK's stage. Klaptrap makes a cameo in Mario Party 7 as a hazard in one of the Pyramid Park events." This information is irrelevant to the strategies section as it does not provide information on how a player may combat or avoid Klaptraps. I'm not sure where this information actually should go, although there is nothing wrong with the information itself. Suggestions?

[edit] DK is a Mario character!

If you look at the history pages you will see that references to Mario on this page have often been deleted and wearily added again by one tired but devoted writer who has lots of better things to do. This is simply a plea that people consider carefully before deleting information from this page. I am aware of the controversy that surrounded the Donkey Kong franchise following Rareware's split from Nintendo, but surely by now there can be no doubt about DK being a Mario character and his games being spin-offs? Bear in mind that the character (I know that technically there were several DKs, but for now I will assume they are one and the same - I do not want to start an argument about the identity of the first DK and the relationship between the two) debuted in the same game as Mario, a game actually titled Donkey Kong. I would also like to point out that, at least as far as I am aware, every Donkey Kong game has contained at least one small reference to a Mario game, or a game with him in it (I can't speak for Donkey Kong 3 (arcade), Donkey Konga 2, Donkey Konga 3 or DK: King of Swing, as I have never played them, but all Rareware's Donkey Kong games (excluding spin-offs for other characters) included at least one slight Mario reference). Lastly, I would like to justify mentioning Mario at all: I believe the Mario and DK franchises are linked, and therefore it is nescessary to refer to Mario on this page so that it is possible to get from the spin-off franchise (DK) to the parent franchise (Mario) at any time.

The Donkey Kong arcade games gave DK top billing, especially Donkey Kong 3. Mario is NOT the parent franchise over DK, while DK isn't the parent franchise of the Mario univerese. Both characters made the debute in the same game, and all of DK's games after DKJr. (except DK '94) had nothing to do with Mario. The Donkey Kong Country and Land trilogies have next to nothing to do with the Mario univerese, other than some small cameos, which Link from the Legend of Zelda also had. Many other franchises outside of the Mario univerese had refrences in the Konga series such as Pikmin and The Legend of Zelda, and the new titles like King of Swing and Jungle Beat have even less to do with Mario than the Country games. If we say, applied your logic to another franchise such as Kirby, than Kirby would be a Metroid character because there are refrences to Metroid in Super Star and Dreamland 3. Whoops.

And no, DK refrences in Mario games don't either, especially in the sport titles, as the developers have to have something to go with the character.

I don't know why you chose to dig up this putrid discussion out of its grave, but since you did, I'd like to point out that a debut in the same game does make them part of the same franchise, a possible exception being cameos like Banjo's appearence in Diddy Kong Racing. You're right, DK games aren't Mario games, but neither are Yoshi or Wario games. They're all spin-offs. This is evidenced by the presence of DK characters in Mario sports games, and the continued existence of Mario vs DK games. Cameos don't make a franchise, but Nintendo have actually referred to DK as a Mario character on at least one occassion. It is my firmest hope that this discussion will now be buried again, never to be resurrected, as it's dangerously close to fanboy arguments. Take it up with dkvine.com or gamefaqs if it's bothering you. RobbieG 11:11, 20 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] English please?

Can someone please convert "In the TV show Klaptraps are in klapblaster's what King K Rool's Kritter's have." into Standard English? I'm not just being awkward here - I don't know what it means and I'm willing to bet plenty of other people don't either.

[edit] Merge with Kremlings?

I like this article, and it's got some good detail, but it doesn't look like it'll ever become anything more than a stub. Why not merge it into the section on Klaptraps on the Kremlings article?

I stand corrected. 08:00 April 13 2006 (UTC)

  • I disagree, as (currently) its long enough to merit its own article--TBC??? ??? ??? 08:27, 24 April 2006 (UTC)

Yes, it is now, I wrote that suggestion ages ago (can't remember exactly) and forgot to date it. The article has improved a lot, and I'm now quite strongly against merging. That is why I wrote "I stand corrected" on April the 13th. 16:16 25 April 2006 (UTC) EDIT: You can vote on whether or not merging is a good idea on the Kremlings discussion page.

[edit] Images

Those images that got deleted were quite good, in my opinion. Why couldn't we keep them? Is there anyone who can get some we can use? RobbieG 14:18, 7 May 2006 (UTC)
