Kiyoshi Katsuki

Kiyoshi Katsuki was a Japanese Lieutenant-General in the Second Sino-Japanese War. After being Deputy Commandant of the War Collage from 1930 - 1932, he became the commander of the 12th Division from 1935 to 1936 and then commanded the Imperial Guards Division in 1936. In the early part of 1937 he was made Deputy Inspector-General of Military Training until he was called to replace the commander of China Garrison Army on July 12th, 1937. Lt. General Kanichiro Tashiro had suddenly died a few days after the July 7th, Marco Polo Bridge Incident that began the Second Sino-Japanese War. Lieutenant-General Kiyoshi Katsuki presided over the early fighting in North China first as commander of the China Garrison Army which then became the 1st. Army on the 26th of August 1937. He remained 1st Army commander until May 30 1938.
