Kitakyushu Airport

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Kitakyushu Airport was a very small airport in Kokura Minami-ku, Kitakyushu, Japan. There used to be four flights to and from Tokyo International Airport (Haneda) every day. The runway was only 1600 metres long, so large jets could not use it.

This airport has now been replaced by a new offshore airport built on a man-made island in Suo nada, the most westerly part of the Seto Inland Sea.

The name of the new airport, which opened in March 2006, is the New Kitakyushu Airport (Shin Kitakyushu Kuko, 新北九州空港).
