Kiryat Anavim

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Kibbutz Kiryat Anavim (קרית ענבים) was the first kibbutz founded in the Judean Hills of Israel. The land for Kiryat Anavim was purchased in 1914 by the Jewish National Fund from an Arab landowner who lived in the nearby village of Abu Ghosh. World War I interrupted settlement plans, but the first settlers arrived as part of the Third Aliya in 1919.

It is over 2000' above sea level. Taking advantage of its splendid view, Kibbutz Kiryat Anavim is currently building a luxury hotel.
