Kirtland Formation

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Kirtland Formation (originally the Kirtland Shale) is a sedimentary geological formation. It is the product of an overbank deposit with many channels draining into an alluvial plain, that existed on the inland seashore of North America, in the late Cretaceous period. It overlies the Fruitland Formation. It is found in the state of New Mexico, in the United States of America.
