[edit] A friend...

You might find Stephen B Streater helpful in understanding the problem with documenting your own products on Wikipedia. Just zis Guy you know? 17:59, 6 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Articles for Deletion (AfD)

I have some experience of AfD myself with FORscene. The assumption is often that someone involved in a project may overestimate its importance and find it hard to meet WP:NPOV. Although other people (including users of your software) will probably edit the article, you will probably find it easier to find independent press reports about your products. It's worth finding as many of these as you can. People can always delete them later, but the more you have, the easier it is to demonstrate notability. Ideal are press reports saying that the software is notable.

As there are so many trivial pieces of software, Wikipedia has guidelines eg WP:CORP#Criteria for products and services and is developing guidelines eg WP:SOFTWARE to keep out the unimportant pieces of software. Providing evidence that your product meets these guidelines will help the AfD. Stephen B Streater 18:53, 6 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Links

Please do not add commercial links or links to your own private websites to Wikipedia. Wikipedia is not a vehicle for advertising or a mere collection of external links. You are, however, encouraged to add content instead of links to the encyclopedia. If you feel the link should be added to the article please discuss it on the article's talk page rather than re-adding it. See the welcome page to learn more about Wikipedia. Thanks.
