[edit] Biography

Kinson, aka "The Borderman", was born and raised in Callahorn, a frontier town of the northern Southlands. His family is one of the few to stay settled north of the Rainbow Lake after the First War of the Races, and he grows up as a Tracker, scout, hunter and adventurer. Master of all of race's tongues, lands and customs.

He teams up with Bremen at an unspecified time, though it can be assumed it is approximately 5 years preceding the Second War of the Races, as a way of making something of his life, which he felt was lacking direction and challenge.

In the First King of Shannara book, he mostly follows Bremen around or is sometimes dispatched by him on several occasions for specific missions. As a tracker he is able to detect enemy movements through their trails, and he also acts as a hunter, providing food for the whole group of heroes he travels with. Though he does not possess magic or an exceptional strengh, he is an ally to be counted upon as well as a confident and counselor.

During his journey, at Paranor, he meets Mareth, a druid with innate magic, and together they travel with Bremen across the Four Lands. Kinson carries the Sword of Shannara shortly from Dechtera until Bremen takes it to go to the Hadeshorn, sending Kinson and Mareth to the Dwarfs.

He succeeds in convincing the battered Dwarf army to come to the aid of the Elves for the Battle of the Rhen, just in time for the last battle, where they prevent the Warlock Lord Brona from retreating, in order for Jerle Shannara to battle with him.

After the battle where he was almost killed by Mareth through her uncontroled Druid Fire, he recovers after weeks spent in Tyrsis. He then moves west with Mareth on the shores of the Mermidon, and settles where the town of Kern is later founded (so he could presumably be considered the first citizen of Kern).
