Kingston Park is a very small suburb which lies roughly 4 miles north west of Newcastle upon Tyne city centre. It is home to several large retailers, the largest being one of Tesco's flagship stores, and lies on the Tyne and Wear Metro line with quick links to the Airport and City Centre.
The area also houses the stadium of the same name which is home to the Newcastle Falcons rugby union team and also hosts the home football fixtures of Newcastle United's reserve team.
The suburb was largely built in the late 1970s and early 1980s, and its Metro station was not part of the original system, because the area did not have the required population density when the Metro was first planned. It was opened on September 15, 1985, four years after the Metro line had begun service.
Shops in Kingston Park include Tesco Extra, Boots, Matalan, Tk maxx, Halfords, Currys, PC World, McDonalds and a Marks and Spencer food store.
