King Frank

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Formerly a London cab driver, King Frank was the first King of Narnia in the Chronicles of Narnia. Frank ruled with his wife, Queen Helen.

His first appearance was made in The Magician's Nephew, when he accidentally followed Digory Kirke into the Wood between the Worlds, and then to Narnia itself. His wife Helen was later brought through to Narnia as well, so that they could rule over the creatures there. Their descendants became the original Kings and Queens of Narnia, who were later succeeded by the Pevensie children. The White Witch Jadis also ruled for a short time, but illegitimately (as she was a Daughter of Lilith, not Eve). He later appears in "The Last Battle" with Queen Helen at the end of time.

Frank was also the master of Fledge, the first of Narnia's winged horses, whom he had looked after in London and had used to pull his cab (as an ordinary horse, whom he called Strawberry).
