King Buxton Robot Series

The King Buxton Robot Series was a series of robots on the BBC show Robot Wars, Series 2-5 and also Series 7.

The robot's name was King Buxton.

This Essex robot was very similar in principle to Series 1's TRACIE. It seemed to be quite hard to control in the gauntlet. It got past the sphere but was stuck at 10.9 metres by Sir Killalot's lance. It was pushed off the platform by Matilda in the trial. After many clashes, its semi-final with RoboDoc went to a judge's decision, which King Buxton won. It was more manoeuvrable than All Torque in the final, and pushed it into the pit.

King Buxton was the only robot to complete the gauntlet, after Shunt drove into the pit. King Buxton went for the barrels and the blocks, before driving over the ramp for 15 points. It escaped from Sir Killalot, but went straight into Matilda.

[edit] Round 5 vs. Roadblock

Road Block managed to get under King Buxton, but was then pushed around by it. Both robots had encounters with the house robots, and both escaped. King Buxton caught fire after being attacked by Sgt. Bash. It was immobilised, and Road Block attacked it with the circular saw.

They returned with a disc on the back.

[edit] Round 1 vs. Eric

King Buxton immediately lifted Eric, but was then lifted itself by Eric, and lost one of its spike tips. King Buxton pushed Eric near the pit but got stuck on the edge. Eric reversed into King Buxton, freeing it, but drove into the pit itself!

[edit] Round 2 vs. Weld-Dor

King Buxton drove up Weld-Dor and used its spikes, which had more effect than Weld-Dor's axe. One of King Buxton's spikes got stuck in the wheel-arch of Weld-Dor, and the robots moved together around the arena. Eventually it escaped and rammed Weld-Dor, but was lifted by Weld-Dor. One of King Buxton's spikes was bent, but Weld-Dor had become immobilised. Sir Killalot moved in and cut off Weld-Dor's axe.

[edit] Round 3 vs. 101

This was one of the best matches in the series, and was a replay of a match in Series 2, where King Buxton beat RoboDoc (from the 101 team). In this battle both robots got under each other, before 101 was pushed into Matilda by King Buxton. 101 pushed King Buxton with its auto-firing spike over the flame pit. King Buxton attacked 101 but 101 escaped and drove at King Buxton, which was pushed into Shunt, who used its axe. King Buxton got stuck on one of 101's tracks. Eventually it escaped, but started smoking at the end. The fight went to a judge's decision. They went for 101.

They changed their name to King B3.

[edit] Round 1 vs. Medusa 2000 vs. Atilla The Drum

King B3 immediately attacked Medusa 2000, which Atilla the Drum stayed out of the action, catching fire. King B3 then attacked it, ramming it into the arena wall. Atilla the Drum spun around repeatedly, hitting King B3. The match ended in a judges' decision. Qualified: King B3, Medusa 2000

King B3 started by steering out of Atomic's way. Atomic then pushed and lifted King B3. After a pushing match, Atomic flipped King B3. However, it drove into the wall and its lifter snapped off. It attacked King B3 again, which promptly caught fire, as it had in the previous series.

They changed the name again to King B Powerworks.

[edit] Round 1 vs. Kronic 2

Kronic got a couple of early hits on King B, but the flipper isn't a very good one and King B didn't turn over. King B then took control pushing Kronic around, bending the flipper and holing the shell. Kronics Spikes then caught fire and King B's blade did some damage. It went to the judges, but the result was clear. King B Powerworks through.

[edit] Round 2 vs. Dominator 2

Both robots went on the attack, with Dominator landing a couple of hits with its axe. Dominator pinned its axe into King B's forks and pulled it around. It Went to the judges, and they gave to win to Dominator 2.

[edit] Round 1 vs. Dantomkia vs. Hassocks Hog 2 vs. Rick

Dantomkia immediately flipped Hassocks Hog 2 right onto the flame pit where they lied on their side, unable to self-right. Dantomkia pushed Rick around the arena as the Hog's ears started to burn. Dantomkia SLAMMED Rick into the arena wall, nearly flipping them out! Dantomkia then flipped King B Powerworks over. Refbot counted the Hog out. Mr. Psycho hammered Rick when they got too close. King B and Dantomkia seemed to be ganging up on Rick, shoving them into the arena side walls. Mr. Psycho then tried to pick Hassocks Hog up. After nearly falling over, Mr. Psycho carried the Hog around the arena, showing off the Hog's "Underpants", before throwing them out of the arena (the robot that is). Dantomkia tried again to flip Rick out of the arena, but then got Psycho'ed out by the hammer as time ran out. King B Powerworks and Dantomkia won the judges' decision.

[edit] Round 2 vs. IG-88

IG-88's aerial was exposed, the only way King B was going to reach that aerial was to avoid IG-88's spinning axe. IG-88 still hit King B a few times. The fight was all Cat-and-Mouse, until King B SLAMMED into IG-88's axe and went flying across the arena in a shower of sparks! King B was immobilized and smoking, as they usually had in earlier wars. Refbot counted King B out. King B was flipped and Pitted. IG-88 goes through the Heat Final!
